Anger is a natural part of the range of our human emotions. When anger becomes uncontrollable, unpredictable, or when a person just seems to get angry at the slightest thing, it becomes destructive.
Anger can cause problems at work, in personal relationships and in the overall quality of a person’s life. It can make people feel as though they are at the mercy of an unpredictable and powerful emotion that they just can’t seem to stop.
Anger can vary in intensity from mild irritation to intense fury and rage from those who just seem to explode and manage to walk away. Some find themselves venting their anger by kicking doors or punching walls. Some feel that they have a huge build up of frustration and anger that drags them down.
Anger is accompanied by physiological and biological changes. When you get angry, your heart rate and blood pressure go up, as do the levels of your energy hormones, adrenaline and noradrenalin. It is these chemicals that create both emotional and physical changes, (a big surge of energy) which can be both pleasurable and addictive. What is CBT? – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the combination of two therapies;
COGNITIVE THERAPY: This therapy looks at the way certain thoughts can trigger off perpetual problems and provides an understanding of that process. In Cognitive Therapy we identify false ideals that are unhelpful and then help you to achieve change in your thought patterns.
BEHAVIOR THERAPY: This guides you in changing behaviors that may be harmful or unhelpful, helping you to come to terms with fearful situations and control your anxiety that may be causing your anger.
