Obsessive Compulsive Disorders

OCD is listed amongst the top 10 most debilitating illnesses by the World Health Organisation. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is thought to affect 2-3% of the UK population. People with OCD often realist their thoughts and the actions they follow through are irrational, which in turn creates further distress. The culmination of these thoughts (obsessive) and behaviors (compulsions) can make the person feel like they have a case of the mental hiccups that won’t go away.

OCD is an anxiety disorder characterised by intrusive thoughts producing uneasiness and apprehension, fear and/or worry, by repetitive behaviours trying to reduce the anxiety within their own minds this makes them excellent subject for hypnosis and strategic therapy which includes CBT. With hypnotherapy treatment a person with OCD typically requires a treatment plan over a number of weeks cooperating with planned assignments between sessions.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Charlize Theron and Billy Bob Thornton are just a few celebrities that have experienced OCD. Oscar-winner Charlize Theron has a problem with messy cabinets. She was quoted saying in London’s Daily Mail

“I have a problem with cabinets being messy and people just shoving things in and closing the door. I will lie in bed and not be able to sleep because i’ll say to myself: I think i saw something in that cabinet that just shouldn’t be there!”

The benefits of using hypnosis to reduce stress and anxiety have been well documented as one of the key triggers of OCD disorders. Training the brain and body to remain calm. In effect alleviating one of the key triggers of OCD allowing you to go on to address the repetitive compulsive parts of your disorder in much more relaxed way. Using a combination of hypnosis and CBT as a strategic therapy. Giving you the tools for you to put your problem firmly into the past.

What is CBT? – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the combination of two therapies;

COGNITIVE THERAPY: This therapy looks at the way certain thoughts can trigger off perpetual problems and provides an understanding of that process. In Cognitive Therapy we identify false ideals that are unhelpful and then help you to achieve change in your thought patterns.

BEHAVIOR THERAPY: This guides you in changing behaviors that may be harmful or unhelpful, helping you to come to terms with fearful situations and control your anxiety that may be causing your OCD.

These two therapies combine the best of both to create CBT. Hypnotherapy adds power to these treatments by creating the environment for you to achieve RAPID RESULTS that have a long term impact. I give you the treatment that you need to move on with your life.

The practice of Mindfulness blends in with Hypnosis and C.B.T. Because it is a discipline of not only self-discovery, but just as importantly of living in the present movement, Leading to feelings of security, self acknowledgement and letting go of fears and anxiety.
